ICC Imagetec is a Tasmanian business supporting the fine arts and photography industry through a range of professional products and services. Our aim is to provide the best inkjet printing available in Tasmania and as good as anything you will find in the country. We are not motivated by the urge to sell products and only supply hardware and papers that we use ourselves. Our reason to exist is to make beautiful images and to help others do the same.
Inkjet Printing
We print only with Pigment based inkjet machines from quality manufacturers Epson and Hewlett Packard. The stocks available include basic papers for gloss or lustre as well as high specification archival inkjet rag papers from quality manufacturers like Hahnemuhle and Crane Museo.
Prints from these machines exhibit exceptional sharpness, colour gamut and longevity. Properly framed and displayed some of these stocks are rated to last between 100-200 years. Compared to a standard chromogenic print these prints will last longer and have a deeper D-max.
Inkjet is incredibly versatile in the range of media that can be imaged on. We print a large amount of canvas and have printed on Timber veneers and handmade papers.

EIZO Monitors
We have two of these world class monitors on our desk and they have been the most important investment in our imaging work flow. We spend hours every day in front of these monitors and they have proven to be totally reliable, totally accurate and when calibrated, reduce our reprint rate to near zero.
When used to soft proof images for printing using our profiles the results are exceptionally close to the final printed piece. We can therefore make corrections to our images with confidence.
If you are looking at upgrading your monitor and are tempted by a cheap $400 wide screen, think carefully about how long it will last, how accurate it will be and can you rely on it to show you your image with exactly the same fidelity in three years as it does today. Your monitor is now the window to your digital images and any investment you make here will be invaluable.
Custom Profiles
If you are doing your own printing and are using Photoshop to soft proof your images you need three things. A good monitor, correct viewing lighting and an accurate printer profile for the media you are using.
A custom profile describes your printer, your ink set, your print settings and your paper. Photoshop uses this information combined with the display profile from your calibrated display to display an accurate screen simulation of your printing process.
Soft proofing allows you to make media specific corrections to your images before printing them to optimise them for your particular conditions.
Display Calibrators
It is vitally important in any imaging workflow to view your images in a calibrated environment. This ensures that the image you are viewing from session to session is consistent and conforms to an industry accepted standard. It will also ensure that the image you are viewing will be as close as possible to the same image viewed on another calibrated system.
We carry the Datacolor Spyder and i1 Display II calibration systems, both of which team really well with the EIZO monitors and are supported by EIZOs ColorNavigator calibration software.

Handmade Paper Printing Project.
In collaboration with the Wilderness Gallery and the Burnie Paper Mill, we are currently experimenting with printing on a range of handmade papers using natural Tasmanian fibres, including Roo Poo paper. This is to produce an exhibit of photographs and art on alternate substrates for the 2009 Ten Days on The Island art festival.
We are interested in seeing what materials we can print on and where we can push inkjet printing technologies. If you have an unusual substrate that you would like to experiment with then contact us and we will see if we can help.
inkAid
We are now reselling inkAid. This product allows you to turn any substrate that will fit through your printer into an inkjet printable media. inkAid is a brush on inkjet receiving precoat that binds the ink to the substrate to preserve image sharpness and colour sturation while still preserving the character of your paper or substrate.

Drobo Storage Robot
The Drobo is a digital media storage solution which takes the headaches out of secure storage. It provides completely automated RAID storage which protects your data from loss by spreading it across multiple disks. In the event of a disk failure, simply insert a replacment drive and Drobo rebuilds the disk. It is also a scalable data solution so you can add storage as you need it rather than buying masses of storage up front.
You can also add the DroboShare to turn the Drobo into a network storage device.
